Home show inspires visitors
BY ARN ALBERTINI RECORDER STAFF email this writer Published: Monday, April 19, 2010 GREENFIELD -- Paul Lagreze tapped on top of a tube shooting sawdust into holes that had been drilled into a red oak log. Hidden in that sawdust were the spores for shiitake mushrooms. Lagreze was showing a small crowd at Sunday's Home Show and Green Fair how to grow their own shiitake mushrooms. 'You've got to make sure you get it packed in,' he said to a young boy who was using the long cylindrical tube to fill up the holes with the spore-laden sawdust. Lagreze had drilled about 30 small holes in the foot-long section of log.
